Gave an inch and they (tried) to take the mile.

This story opens during my freshman year of high school.  I had gone to a different high school than everyone I knew during middle school, so I was eager to start meeting new people.  One day, during Biology, we’re assigned lab partners for the semester and mine is a girl that we’ll call “Ellie”.  We’re given some busywork assignment to familiarize ourselves with safety procedures, so I use this time to get to know my partner (since we’re going to be stuck together anyway).  I learned that Ellie and I had a lot in common: she didn’t know anyone at this school either (having just moved from five hours away), had a definite off-beat personality and was a fan of anime.  With so much in common, we ended up becoming friends by the end of the period.

Ellie and I didn’t have any other classes together, and I was busy after school, so it didn’t really surprise me when she slipped me a note one day.  Most of our communication took place in writing, which might explain why I missed warning flags for what was in store.  Despite only sharing one class, I started seeing Ellie in the hallways, every day in the same places.  Then she starts finding me at football games, despite having a strong dislike for the sport.  Then, at a buffet for the school band (which I was in) after games, Ellie hugs me from behind.  Unfortunately, I wish I could say that alarms were going off at this point, but I can be incredibly dense.

As the semester progressed, Ellie’s strange nature started to assert itself more and more.  She started injecting Japanese into conversation randomly, and often incorrectly.  She would talk at length about how Sesshōmaru (or whatever other character caught her fancy) was her bishie.  Then she started wearing a pet collar (complete with ID tags), randomly exclaiming “Nya!” and talking about her yaoi pairings, all the while maintaining the stalker behavior to the point where even I was noticing.  However, it wasn’t until the week of the homecoming game and dance that I was truly shocked.

After “coincidentally” running into Ellie in the halls, she followed me while I was going to practice when she decided to slide uncomfortably close to me and say “If we lose this next game, I’ll let you do whatever you want with me” in her most seductive tone.  Thoroughly unsettled by this, I nevertheless faked a laugh in the vain hope it was a joke.  She then made some kind of purring noise and made a grab for my crotch, an action that earned her a solid shove away from my person.  She objected, then started crying, apologized and ran away.

For a week after that, I didn’t have any “coincidental” meetings or have to endure any of Ellie’s oddities.  In fact, I never saw her except during the one class we shared, and she seemed to avoid me during that too.  Being a kindhearted fool, I expressed concern and she brightened immediately.  Strange, but surely she knows boundaries now, right?  If only that were true.  At some point, Ellie handed me a thick stack of paper, saying she had written a story and asked me to proof it for her.  Puzzled and curious, I agreed and started reading.

It’s because of that day I can say that I, for a brief time, starred in a yaoi harem fanfic, complete with illustrations.

With Ellie protesting, I shredded the papers as best as I could, then very coldly explained that this kind of thing was NOT okay and that I didn’t want to have anything more to do with her.  She gave me a chastising look and said “Anon-kun, you’re so tsundere, I’ll see you later.”

I actively avoided Ellie after that, or blatantly ignored her if I couldn’t.  I guess she eventually gave up after a few months.  I wish I could say that this was the end of things, but she continued to make a name for herself until we graduated.  Her other exploits included becoming the very vocal self-appointed fan club of my best friend, sending nude pictures to some other unfortunate soul and arguing with “the demon that is sealed inside my body” during class.  When you’re at the point where even the teachers are repulsed by your behavior, it’s time to rethink your actions.
