There aren’t a whole lot of anime/manga fans at my local high school. There’s no club or anything, which I really didn’t have an problem with. Being a “normal” fan of anime, I’ve met and seen a lot of really messed up weeaboos over my years. Luckily, that happened mostly just in middle school with an large anime club and “Cosplay-Day”.

But my high school didn’t have any of this, so I thought I’d be okay this year and wouldn’t run into anymore weridos. Yeah, I was dead wrong.

A few weeks into the new year, a girl transferred into my english class. (Let’s call her “L”) L sat next to me, and rudely slammed her extremely large and heavy backpack all over my papers and assignments. It had have stickers of the anime, “Black Butler” all over it.

I didn’t really like the anime, so I didn’t say anything and tried my best to ignore her. A little later, our teacher had to leave our classroom and told us we could talk to each other until class ended. I didn’t know anyone else in the class then, so I just decided to open my phone and text a few of my friends. Suddenly, an ear periceing shriek came out of nowhere as L practically jumped on me.

I couldn’t understand most of what she was saying, since I was being smothered by her. But by what I could gather, it was something along the lines of, “OH MAI GAWDZ. I LUVS HETAILA TOO!!!” 

I did kinda like it and I had a picture of Italy as my background at the time. “Um, yeah. It’s okay.” I said after I practically had to push her off me. She then started blabbering about who she shipped and all the fan-fiction she wrote. I didn’t want to be mean, so I listened and tried my best not to judge her. Then, after she was done fangirling, she asked me what other animes I liked. Before I could answer, she yelped, “Wait! You like Kuroshitsuji too…right?!”

“Uh, Black Butler? No, I haven’t seen it…sorry.” 

L’s happy and giggly demeanor suddenly disappeared, as she gave me an ugly look. “No, I mean K-U-R-O-S-H-I-T-SU-J-I! Kuroshitsuji! Ugh, don’t tell me you actually watch it in english dub too!” She spat, talking down to me.

“I don’t watch it.”

“Well why not?! If you watch Hetalia then you MUST watch Kuroshitsuji! C’mon you gotta! Otherwise you aren’t a true fan!”

I looked back in utter shock and disbelief. “Uh…of what?”

L rolled her eyes. “Of YAOI of course! You can’t call yourself a true yaoi fan if you haven’t seen both!”

“I’m not really a yaoi fan. I’ll read some fan-fiction every once in a while, but I find yuri more interesting. Um, sorry…?”  

Just then, the bell rang. L grabbed her heavy backpack (which I’m pretty sure was full of manga.) and managed to shove all of my things of my desk in the process without a single apology. She then gave me a cold stare and muttered, “you’re disgusting.” and stormed out the door, bumping violently into a few people along the way.

L had managed to make other friends as the year went by, and we barely looked at each other. Which I was perfectly fine with me; but as the year wore on, I couldn’t help but pity her. There was a ton of gossip that seemed to go on all around the school about her, or one of her friends.

Like one time on Halloween, almost everybody showed up in costumes, some even went in cosplays. One girl, (who was actually fairly normal and sweet) went as Hatsune Miku. As I was complimenting her on her good cosplay, L ran up and glomped on her, screaming and screeching as obnoxiously as she possibly could. “OHMAHGODZ ITS MIKU-CHAAAN!!!” The Miku cosplayer almost fell over and smashed her head pretty hard on a nearby bench.

After I told L to back off, she and her friends gave me a disgusted look and spat, “We don’t take orders from dirty, perverted lesbians like you!” And then ran off giggling. From that moment on, I started to develop a hard loathing for L and her little group of friends. 

Another time, L threw a huge hissy fit in the front office after our Principal said there wasn’t going to be an anime club and she wasn’t going to open one anytime soon. I don’t know what happened extacly, but from I can gather, it had a bunch of death threats, crying, screaming, and phone calls home involved, leading up to L being suspended for a few days.

After that she and her little gang calmed down a bit, but didn’t stay quiet for long. Another time, L and her friends showed up in poorly put together Hetalia cosplay with some of the worst wigs I’ve seen in a long time. They also threw a fit at anyone who asked what they were wearing. They were often snobby and talked down to anyone they didn’t feel were worthy of their “desu awesome-ness”. They constantly talked back to our history teacher and complained that she wasn’t a “real sansei”  because she thought Hetaila was stupid or something. I also heard that she was planning to egg and spray-paint our history teacher’s house, but stopped when the principal found out and threatened to suspend her.

Near the end of the year, she left to go to the bathroom, and had left her big, sparkly, neon-pink, scrapbook binder of “secret kawaii love.” (Not kidding, that’s really what she called it.) She always carried it around, even from day one. So I always was a little curious of what was in it. Without thinking, I opened it.

Inside were dozens and dozens of extremely graphic yaoi pictures, printed right off the internet. Most of them were large bishies slamming their junk into extremely young, red faced, teary eyed, shota boys. Yeah, it was basically pedo porn. I stared back in horror, as I also found a bunch of drawings in a pocket in the front, of her having explicit anal and oral sex with most of the male cast from Black Butler and Hetaila. I’m pretty sure they were traced, but it was still extremely disturbing, especially how detailed she “drew” the male genatalia. I also found a few creepy poems and stories of her having hardcore BDSM sex with Ciel from Black Butler. I was so horrified that I didn’t see L come in from the bathroom.

Before I knew what was happening, she whacked the binder away from me, and slapped me with it pretty hard, enough force to completely throw me off my chair. “WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING YOU LESBIAN DKYE BITCH?!” she screeched at me. It took a lot of people to hold her back as she screamed and thrashed how she much she hated me and how much she wanted to kill me.

After a trip to the nurse office (she gave me a bloody nose and a few nasty cuts) I told the principal what I saw in the binder, and she forced L to hand it over. Needless to say, she got suspended again. The principal warned if she pulled any of this crap again, she would get expelled in an instant. She was then switched into different classes, and I hoped that was the end of that.

When she came back, I heard she and her little gang started to spread rumors about me to everyone, on how I stole girl’s underwear and took pictures of them getting undressed with my phone in the P.E. locker rooms or something. Luckily, no one believed her, but I couldn’t help but get annoyed and angry all over again.

From what I heard, the last straw was when she used pictures of Turkey from Hetalia in her powerpoint presentation of the Armenian genocide in her other history class. Thankfully, she finally got expelled.
