poor cherry trees

Back in 2008 I went to the a cherry blossom festival in NYC. They have it every year at the Brooklyn Botanical gardens. While I went there to see the blossoms and the Japanese traditional performances, it seems that the local weeaboos decided this was an outdoor anime convention. Girls wearing thin yukatas even though it was jacket weather outside and cosplayers everywhere.

I think the cherry on top was this group of Naruto cosplayers jumping all over the poor cherry trees. I guess they thought they were ninjas or something because they were jumping all over the tree, shaking the branches and screaming like it’s nobody’s business. I tried to walk away from the horror but even as I was in another part of the gardens, a group of obnoxious weeaboos walked by screaming and yelling some meme not too soon later, so there was no escape.

I guess NYCC/Reed Expo then thought “hey there’s weeaboos here, let’s turn this into an anime event” and instead of stopping these idiots they created more events to CATER to them. So now basically “Sakura Matsuri” = Weeaboo Matsuri. I haven’t returned there ever since.
