Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is a weeaboo?
For the purposes of this blog, a weeaboo is someone who is involved in fandom (anime or otherwise) and who behaves in a bizarre, embarrassing, or offensive way.

Q: Can you still be a weeaboo if you are Japanese/not an anime fan/etc.?
Yes. Rude people come in all ethnicities and all fandoms. People in non-anime fandoms, for the purposes of this blog, fall under the “weeaboo” umbrella as well - we’ve received many submissions about Homestuck fans, Bronies, and many other western fandoms.

Q: How do I submit anonymously?
If you are logged into Tumblr, log out first. When submitting while logged out, you are asked to provide a name and email; this is only for identification, so just enter a fake name and email. Alternatively, if you ask to remain anonymous in your submission, we’ll repost it ourselves without your name attached.

Q: Why haven’t you posted [notorious weeaboo story]?
We post what we are submitted. If you want to see a certain story, regardless of whether you are the author or not, go ahead and submit it yourself. We don’t post long stories in image format because they are a) inconvenient to read, and b) often resized by Tumblr, making them unreadable. We only post long stories in text format, so retype it before submitting.

Q: Why hasn’t my submission been posted yet?
It’s probably in the queue. As of this writing it’s set to 2 stories a day, so it can take weeks for posts to become public after being submitted. If it’s not in the queue, it’s probably been deleted for any number of reasons - it’s boring, it’s irrelevant, there’s too many errors to be readable, etc.

Q: Can I submit pictures?
Depends. Screencaps of comments on DeviantArt, Facebook, *chan, or any other website are acceptable as long as they are small enough that Tumblr will not resize them (max 500x500) and all usernames/icons are censored.
As stated above, long stories in image format will not be posted. Photos of bad cosplays will not be posted because it is impossible to preserve the anonymity of the person in the photo, even if the face is blacked out. Pictures of bad fanart will not be posted; there are literally dozens of other blogs dedicated to posting them.

Q: Can I be a mod?
No.

Q: Are you the moderator of weaboostories?
No. There are two of us and we aren’t affiliated with weaboostories in any way.
